  • Auto -> Manual

    I have a 3.8L 1995 Camaro. Unfortunately, it is an automatic. I want a manual, how much money would the parts be to conver the auto to a manual.

    its not worth it, just buy a stick in the first place. you will need the trans which will be expensive, clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, clutch, clutch master cylinder, new brake pedal/clutch pedal, reprogram for the pcm which is about 300 alone, plus other stuff.

      ^^^What he said. While a stick may be funner to drive, just throw a 3000 stall on the A4 and you'll outperform the M5's.

        ^^^ From a lauch, not a roll. It has been done before but, for what you can buy a camaro for now I would just buy the 5 spd if you want one that bad.

          X2. I can beat M5's with average drivers no problems at the 1/4 mile. From a roll, FORGET it. My A4 has absolutely no 3rd gear what-so-ever. I'm hoping 3.42 gears will help that some. Greenmachine on here can attest to that, we've gone at it plenty of times. If I race him from a dig, I own him. But if we go from a roll, its whoever gets the jump, he usually does and I can not reel him in. (he has a 94 M5 3.4 with 3.73's, headers, cam, blah blah).

            I'm just finishing the auto to manual swap on my 94 camaro right now. It's a VERY EASY swap, however I lucked out with parts and stripped an entire 97 firebird with the m5 for 1400. So I also swapped pcms with the new engine i put in and basically my camaro is a 97 firebird. If you have any particular questions I'd be glad to answer them via email.
