  • Installation help for Spec 2

I just got my spec stage 2 clutch in today and was pretty excited until I read the note that came in the box. It said that when using this clutch, I have to use a spec flywheel or either get mine resurfaced or it will void my warranty. Can I just turn the flywheel? It took me like 2 months to save to get this clutch because I'm only 16 and work at a chinese place. About how much is it to resurface a flywheel or would it be cheaper to buy spec's? I'm hoping my dad could help with additional expenses but thats not gonna be much since my brother just blew the motor in his monte carlo z34 and he had to buy his engine. Any help would be great.

Yes, turning the flywheel is equivalent to resurfacing it. Should be like $20 to $50 at a machine shop. Call around.

So it should be only around $20-$50? I might aswell just get the flywheel resurfaced since its in my price range. Better then paying $400 for a new aluminum one.

Dude, def. pop that flywheel off and bring it down to your local machine shop. I paid about 30 bucks for mine to be done. Also, make sure you pull the pilot bushing out and put in the needle bearing they gave you with the clutch.
        Good luck

I went to the dealer where my dad works and got a new flywheel for 110$, not bad considering its a GM part. I also purchased a spec stage 3 clutch which will be installed in a week or two. Good luck let us know how the new clutch goes.
