I would like to know what the benefits would be if i upgraded from my stock 3.23s to 3.42s. Would there be much of a difference or should i opt for the 3.73s. Also keep in mind i do a lot of highway driving. Thanks in advance for your help because i couldnt find anything concrete in the search.

you wont see as much of a gain with 3.42s since youve gotta manual, go with 3.73's, there will be a much larger difference ;) you should be able to get away with using 3.73's on the highway since youve gotta 5th gear.2000 Navy Blue T-top Camaro A4
TSP Rumbler
Carsound Hi-flo Cat
!MAF screen
Whisper lid
HPP3

Here we go again, We really need a sticky on this and to lock all the new topics on something that has been asked, answered and debated over 500 times.
I guess he means higher gear or he knows nothing about them.2005 Cavalier LS Sport M5
http://members.cardomain.com/firefighter8615

for auto 3.42's are the best all around gear (highway and performance). Manuals can get away with a lower gear so the 3.73's would be a great option. 4.10 is a little extreme imo but some swear by them.2001 Arctic White Firebird With Black Drop Top

3:42 Gears
Zexel LSD
BMR upper A-Arms
Trans Am exhaust with 3\" I-pipe and cutout
Modified intake
Mecham Hood
Trans Go shift kit
Making rear control arms and panhard

im getting 3.73's but im a little paranoid about my highway gas mileage because i go up to ft lauderdake (120 mile round trip) about twice a month on avg. i have an a4...think i'll have to worry?
btw your 5 speed will be fine with 3.73's, ive heard numerous times that 3.42's are **** with 5 speedsV-SEX!

intake/exhaust ;)
plenty appearence

Within my grasp: 14\'s :)
