a 1997 Camaro Z28 would have a one piece steel driveshaft or a one piece aluminum driveshaft? This is an automatic car.

Steel i'd say unless it's a 1LE version. All 98+ (AFAIK) got the alums.

Well, I wish I could find the build sheet. Isn't not in the glove box, center console or spare tire cover. Where else did GM put them?

I did not realize that they put it in the door jam. It's not a 1LE. Thanks,
        Jim

Nope....my friend had a '98 Z28 with a 1pc steel stock. He bought an aluminum one from someone else, and has since sold that aluminum ds to Little G.

yeah, GM is pretty bad at using left over parts from previous year models.
