I am sick of my 3.08 and open diff. I gotta upgrade. First off what is better, a complete rear end off a z28 or a differential and gears and let someone install it? Secondly, all the complete rears i have found are 600-800 and i would have to change the brakes over and all of that stuff. I think it would be easier to just get the differential and gears and let someone do it but then if they arent just right i am gonna have problems. Anyways what should i do and does anyone know where i can get a complete rear end cheaper than 600-800?

In my opinion it would be best to find a used rear end of a z28 or something. You can upgrade your gears, get posi and rear disc brakes in one shot. your going to actually pay more for all of them seperate. Not to mention if you got used gears and put them on your rear end then they will whine. Either way you will have to reprogram your mileage and speedo which is also expensive if you buy the software.

i went from 3.08 to 3.42 and love it..i saw a full 1/2 second from it and love the extra traction..i would definitely recommend it to you because a 15.3 on the factory open 3.08 is not bad at all!

I found a couple of rear ends on ebay but they were off of a 2001 and a 2002. Will these work on my 96 camaro?

Stick with a pre-98 rear. And of course do a search in here and Suspension for all the info you need.

Well i just found me a rear. Its out of a 94 trans am for $250 plus shipping. I will probably order it tomorrow, now all i have to worry about is switching out the brakes.

a 98+ will work, and you won't have to worry about switching the brakes because it already comes with disc brakes. (I'm assuming by switching the brakes you mean going from drum to disc).
