  • gas mileage with 3.73s

    i just got back from Florida. I have 3.73s and i i ws surprised by how well i did with the gas issue. on the way down to florida, i got an average of 30 miles to the gallon and 412 mile per tank. on the way back, i got 31 miles to the gallon and 415 miles per tank. just thought i'd share. I have an M5 if anyone was curios.

    Hey I'm curious. What rpms are you turning at 65 mph and 80 mph?

      80 mph is about 3100, i dont go that high. i try to keep it below 2800. (about 73-74ish) i'll have to get back to you on the 65 mph. but its probably around 25-2600

        I was just thinking of doing the 3.73 gear swap to my car quite soon. My only difference is the auto tranny. However, I dont honestly think that an auto would affect the mileage more than a couple mpg as compared to your m5. Interesting, thanks for posting the info, that's good to know.

          With my car (auto), 60mph is 2000rpm
          75mph = 2500rpm

          Mileage is not bad at al with 3.73s

                3.73s should be turning 2880RPM @ 85MPH with 3.73s, it sounds liek you have 4:10s or an uncorrected speedo.
