A buddy of mine from whom I bought my rearend has a supercharged 96 WS6. Yea steels I am pretty sure are stonger but you need a ton of torque and power to twist one. I can see a WS6 with a sc possibly needing the steel with that power and torque. For our cars though alum. is plenty.
