ABS ring on diff

I got today my LSD with the following specs : 10 bolt, 7 5/8.And that’s what I need according to firebirdV6 Modifications Encyclopedia. Of course, it came without ABS ring, so I pulled one from my open diff. During installation, the ring get broken.. :( ) The ring was like 4mm shorter in long. I took the broken ring and put it back on the open diff and it made a perfect match. It means my lsd is ~4mm/Pi=1.27mm bigger in diameter then open diff which makes my Open diff 7 ½ and lsd 7 5/8!! How the in the world I’ve got 7 ½ diff in my car?? Can I buy ABS ring separate from diff? I’m stuck.

yes, it says there 7.5" differential, why someone who wrote Modifications Encyclopedia, mislead the information??? btw it cost me 40$ for the new ring+30$ to cut 1/8in off from my lsd+ day without a car ;( :( :(

7.5/7.625 parts should be interchangeable. What year did your new LSD come out of? Is it a Torsen or an Auburn? I reused my old reluctor ring, as do most others who's cars came with 3.23s stock.

They are interchangeable(posi units) but ABS ring is 7.5 and it wouldnt fit on 7.625, no way The diameter of the unit is bigger then the ring. I broke mine trying to put it on.i ended up buyng a new ring and getting the local machine shop to cut 0.125 off the posi unit.
I dont know who is the maker of that unit. The guy who sold it to me, told me that it is GM take off,7 5/8, 10 bolt,28spline, 3.42 gears. All parameters of the posi unit matched with my open diff exept my was 7.5 and thats why i had a headache. It is now on and its working.
Anyone can help me to find out what it is , I looked thru the ebay and found a similar picture of the unit:

As far as I know The difference in the reluctor ring is based on the series carrier....The series 2 carrier is smaller and wont work on a series 3...So far all of the series 3 carriers I have played with on the F-bodys are the same......
