Its possible just not easy, not cheap, and not really worth while. List of parts off my head:
    PCM from a manual firebird
Wiring harness from a manual firebird
center console from a manual firebird
    clutch pedal assembly
    transmisson (of course)
master cylinder (f-bodys have hydraulic not cable)
transmission mounts from a manual firebird
    Quite possibly more
    Cost:way to much

Its alot of work that I would not recomend to a backyard mechanic. BTW whoever told you autos suck is full of it. The fastest cars on this board are Auto. Autos can be made better than manuals. You just need a corvette servo and a shift kit. If you really want the manual (yes I know banging gears is fun I have a manual sports car not a f-body though)your best bet is to trade it in for a manual (insurance is higher on it at least in FL it is more room for driver error).

The TransGo shift kit is probably the best and most popular shift kit out there. TBYRNE sells it for $110. A Corvette Servo is a small part, not 100% sure what it does, but it's something like it has smaller gears and a larger area and helps with fluid, something like that, helps w/ firmer shifts basically. Not sure where to get one... this weekend I'm buying one from someone locally for $10 :D He said he bought em new for $25, so it's not an expensive piece.

I remember reading in GMHTP that going from auto to manual would not require a PCM change. This of course was on a third gen car, which i believe has a lot less trouble codes than an OBD-II car, so this could not apply to your car. Anyone have any more info on that?
