ok,, i have a 1997 firebird WITHOUT the Y87 package, so i think my car has 3.23 gears in the rear. i would like to get 3.42's so i get a little better bottom end. How would these gears throw off my speedometer reading,, and would the car govern out at a slower or faster speed,, or would it still govern out at the same speed as it does now with the factory 3.23 gears???
Thanks for your help in advance
Throws it off about 7 mph in the good way i have a set of 3.42's someone said they might buy them i'm waiting till fri for them but i'll sell them of you need them 85 shipped
My new ride 2000 camaro, No mods yet still waiting for warranty to run out then all out heads, cam, and supercharger
it wont throw it off that that far...going from 3.23 to 3.73 throws it off 8mph at 70mph...so it reads 78 when ur actually going 70...SLP makes a processor to calibrate the speedo, P/N 63007 or P/N 63008 depending on the year model...
