2001 4l60e on a 96 3.8??????????/

Will a 2001 3.8 trans outa a firebird work on a 96 3.8 firebird ? Are the bell housings the same? can i change the bellhousings if they aren't the same???

Also, are the bellhousings swappable from a 5.7 L V8???

1. Yes. The tranny bushing may be more rearward than the 96 location, as I found swapping my 95 tranny w/a 98 one.

2. NO, looks like in 98 they went to a removable bell housing., and no.

3. Input shafts are probaly different, might want to google for an answer on that.
