• Getting a new shifter (5-speed)

What would be the best shifter for the least amount of money? Thanks.

    Links would be nice ;)

B&M, Hurst, Pro 5.0...take your pick. Do a search and you'll see they're all about the same. ;)

but do any of those have the advantage over the others? i dont want to end up with a crappy shifter i regret buying

shifting is just really rough in between gears, i want something smoother

The only disadvantage to the B&M is that you can't swap handles. Still a great shifter, though.

I love my Pro 5.0 shifter. I have yet to get lou's short stick for it, but the shift is considerably shorter with the Pro 5.0. The one downfall is it has adjustable shift stops, that when adjusted wrong (like mine was) it popps out of gear. I readjusted it and it works like a charm. The shift is a ton smoother, shorter and nice and firm. I get very little vibration or noise up through the handle.

U have a Hurst billet +, works great, I like the adjustable stops just need to adjust htem right, I adjusted mine a little too short so I popped out of gear to, just drive around a day with your center console out and an allen wrench in the seat next to you and adjust it.

I got a ls1speed inc. short stick and I love it. I am still running the stock ball.

My suggestion is check ebay and the message boards for a used shifter, its kinda one of those parts you can buy used and not be too worried.

Got my shifter for $90 shipped.
ls1 speed in short stick for $19.99 in a GP ~$23 shipped

Sweet combo for $113, but I did have to wait and look for a deal though.

Another vote for Pro 5.0, I like the adjustable gate stops. They aren't hard to set up. Anything is better than stock.

I love my B&M, it was $129 and comes with a shifter that's the right height to begin with VERY well made.

Where did you find a B&M for $129? Only ones I've found have been $160+. Thats an awesome price!

I love my B&M Ripper. But I think absolutely any shifter you go with, you will love over the stock crapper.

A new shifter is probably the best mod you can do to a manual. Makes everything so much better.
