ok its a 98 firebird with a 5 speed and would like to have 4.10 but not sure if they will work so will probably have to go with 3.73what is you guys's opinion on that and where is the best place to buy them from as far as price and customer relations

4.10s are a very agressive gear and are probably not well suited for daily driving. but they will fit. i run 3.73s and i like them a lot. as for gears, mine are Motive and i got them off ebay. thats the cheapets place to find them. i have no complaints about "customer realtions". also unless your car is equipped with the Y87 package, you will also need to upgrade your differential to a Limited slip differential. because the gears are series 3 and the stock diff is a series 2. so you need to upgrade to a series 3 diff. also it would defeat the purpose of upgrading gears if you only have an open differential.

3.42's for an a4 and 3.73's for an m5. Others have had great times with 4.10's but, are losing the gas milage. Little g is doing great with 4.10's. Unless you drag race a lot I would stick with 3.73's. Are you running stock 3.23's now?

I'm putting 4.10's in my auto in 4 days.
Go big or go home. If you're worried about gas mileage, don't mod your car. Hope you don't want to ever put a cam in then.

your 3.23's should have been 3 series anyway, correct? even if they are not, and everything is 2-series based now, you can find a set of 2-series 4.10s to go with them.

Since you have an M5, you should have 3.23's and a 3 series diff stock. If you still have the stock 3.23 gears, then your locker is a 3 series.

PS - If you want low E.T.'s, go with the 4.10's :D

And I will be seeing MUCH more than 12mpg...it's all in how you drive. I won't have it floored 24/7. As long as I cruise at or under 70 it will be VERY acceptable gas milage. I'm getting 300-320 with 90% city miles and will be happy with 250-275 and some badass 4.10's.

Explain this please, anytime you make an engine more eff. gas milage will increase. This depends on how you drive of course.
