  • LT1 swap and 3.08's ?'s

I found a LSD off a 2.73 rear end for cheap and want to install it and retain my 3.08's (mainly to keep down the costs). Im doing an LT-1 swap very soon by the way, my qustion is would this be a decent gear with the V8? reason I ask is I know it was never an option for the V8, nor have I ever seen anybody with an LT1 run 3.08's. Would I get decent acceleration, Im thiking it would be better then 2.73's at least right(at least till I get the money for some 3.42's or 3.73's to be installed)? Also I know the shift points and speedo will be off with the LT1 computer, so could the JETSCU2000 or any other speedo calibrator fix this, meaning is there a setting on them for 3.08's? Thanks for any help.

if you go up to anything higher than 3.08s on that rear you will have to change out your LSD too.

3.08s would be better than 2.73s, no doubt. i think LT1s have trouble stretching them out though since they are a little lacking in top end.

dont waste your time installing 3.08s... put in 3.73s. In the grand scheme of things it wont be that much more.

if you put the LT1 in, just get it corrected w/ www.PCMforless.com tuning. its not that expensive and will help your performance.

thats not true I could get 3.42, or 3.73's for a single carrier, so upgrading is'nt an issue.

I think you misunderstood me, I already have 3.08's and I just want to add the LSD I found at a junk yard thats off a 2.73 rear.
