  • gear swap, now get speedo recalibrated...

My buddy just got his '99 Firebird auto transmission swapped to 3.73s. I don't know much about getting speedos recalibrated but what should he get to do it?

computer tune by Websters. order it through tybrne. might as well put the $100+ for a calibration module toward programming which will give you other performance gains.

80 bucks at the dealer to get it flashed to a car with those gears in it. but you gotta find a vin # of the same year and car with the new gears in it. 3.73s might be hard to find. Best route would probably be wester's custom programming

No V6 Camaro comes stock with 3.73's in it. The dealer flashing a VIN is not an option.

You best bet is Wester's custom programming or wait for the HP Tuners software.

Going with custom programming will also fix the shift points.

Does flashing the PCM change the shift points?

I had a Jet SCU 2000 that crapped out after a year and left me stranded. Jet sent me a second one and it crapped out too. I got tired of the whole ordeal and eventually had a dealer program my car to a VIN equipped with Y87. All you need is a number. Shop the used car sited that show VIN numbers and find one that says "performance package," not "appearance package." Any GM dealer can do this.

You're not reading the thread: he has 3.73s, which didn't come stock on any V6 f-body, he has to get custom programming.

The jet scu craped out on me too they replaced it and the 2nd took a dive as well. I have a 99 camaro A4 and use the granatelli gran speedo works great for almost a year now with no problems and easy to install.
