  • Major problem...

Went out to my car to leave for work, turned it on, tried to put the car in reverse so I could back out of my driveway, and it wouldn't go into gear. On top of that, the clutch pedal stayed stuck up by the floorboard. I was able to pop the pedal back out with my foot, but every time I pressed the clutch in, it stay stuck by the floorboard. Also, whenever I would try to put the car in gear, the car would do a weird sort of lurch/jerk forward, and the engine would shutter as if starting to stall. I also discovered (by accident) that the shifter would go in and out of the gears without trying to engage the clutch. Anyone know what in the heck happened to my car? My parents think that my clutch is gone, and I don't know enough about the transmission to know what could be wrong. I was hoping you guys could help me out. They had the car towed to a local garage, but they aren't open on Sundays, so I have to wait until tomorrow until they will even look at it.

Any ideas as to what's wrong? And how much is this going to cost me?

The shop called today and said it was the slave cylinder that was causing all of the problems, and would need to be replaced. The ironic part is that the shop replaced the same cylinder a little over a year ago, and their warrenty work is only good for a year, so I'm basically SOL on this one. They said it will cost me $300 to replace, which includes a reduced price on labor and half-off of the tow price...

yeah there was definatly a leak somewhere.. basicly causing you to lose pressure in your hydrolics and thus sucking the peadle to the floor.. and leaving the clutch engaged..

        it happens..
