Alright, did some searching and haven't really seen anything about tranny coolers and what ones people have on their cars or what they recommend. I just recently purchased and installed a nitrous wet kit and figured it would be smart to put a tranny cooler on the camaro as well.
What size and brand coolers are you guys running or recommend I get to compliment the nitrous kit? Any help would be great, thanks in advance!
B&M 11X14 Extreme Cooler. You want to get a Shift kit, and probably a performance rebuild before messing with N20. I would suggest having a heavy duty reverse reaction shell and bearing, a hardenened input shaft and housing, as well as race clutches and steels installed. This is to be safe you may not really need all of it, but it's better than torching a tranny.

The guys over at ZZP don't like em and have a whole writeup on why you don't need one and that more than likely the install will be done improperly and cause you lots of headaches anyways. It kinda makes sense, I haven't decided yet though myself.

I have a "Long" brand, "stacked plate type" cooler, its rated @ 14,000#,a pretty good size for F-body 6's.This type of cooler has many advantages over tube & fin types;more rugged constuction, better heat transfer,so its smaller in size yet gives the same amount of cooling. Also orifaces in the cooler control cooling by viscosity, so you don't overcool the trans,B&M , makes it also I believe they call it their "Supercooler series",Hayden I think too. Also ,if your really going to thrash the auto-trans,you might want to add a Magnifine aux. trans filter, keeps the fluid real clean, had mine for 5 years, works great!Personnally I always add Lubeguard as a good all around additive its used by Professional trans rebuilders & OEM endorsments everywhere!Lubeguard has a new platinum series lubricant supplement its universal in appliction & converts dexron3 to Mercon V.I'm going to put it in my 50th ann. Corvette & my '98 Camaro.I'm, going to also try Motor Kote in my Camaro, trans, eng. etc.If anyone is interested its at www.Motorkote.com the stuff looks impressive.
Agreed, we always ALWAYS run a tranny cooler on applications using an aftermarket stall and/or shift kit. Do the install right, or have a trusted shop do it if you're worried about the install going wrong. We have never had one fail us, however we have had to rebuild a few of the first 4l60e's we trashed on, because they got to where they wouldn't even shift until you let them cool WAY down. Worth the investment of under $50? YES.
