Just ordered a 3.42 rear end

Okay, I took the plunge and ordered a 3.42 rear end from a salvage yard in PA that specializes in 93-02 Firebirds and Camaros. This is a used 3.42 ratio rear differential from a 1999 Pontiac Trans Am. The rear has positraction and rear disc brakes. Comes complete with rear rotors and calipers. Features Larger brakes than earlier F- body rears. Trailing arms and torque arm NOT included. Excellent condition.
I am now having second thoughts about this. Please, somebody, in your honest opinion, put my mind at ease and tell me that this will fit and be an easy swap from my stock 3.08 open dif.
I hate to get this rear end and find out that it wont fit or that it will cost me $$$$ to get it to fix.

it will fit...everything should change over that you will need

the rear has been mostly the same since 1982...

have someone help you who has done something like this before and it should be no sweat...

knock it out in one sunday afternoon.

the only thing that i can think of that may be of concern is the ABS....or since it's from a trans am....the traction control....

get a haynes manual.

Its a salvage yard in Bristal PA. My husband doesnt know the name of it.

i went to the same exact junkyard becasue i ordered the same rear off ebay about 3 weeks ago. it is off a 99 t/a and has 3.42 and lsd. i went there becasue shipping was $125, they put the rear in the back of my dads station wagon, excellent customer service and very nice. i had the rear installed and its awsome, the brakes that were on it were brandnew also. don't be worried at all. :D

oh yeah, i forgot, i'm going back to Bristol, PA to pick up my LT1 front suppension, 155 speedo, and LT1 cooling fans. i will probably get the rest of my parts from them because they are all in great condition and low price:)

I just swapped in a 3.42 rear into my '99 from a '96 Trans Am. The install took a while, but it was extremely straightforward - all plug & play.

its called Contemporary Corvette, its on New Rodgers Rd. right off of Old Rodgers RD. they have about 500 corvettes, and about 15 camaro and TransAms. i went there thursday to get my suspension, speedo, and cooling fan. the guy noticed a crack in the cooling fan, so he lifted up a t/a with a forklift and took out a new one, they are great:)

I lost the auction. some a$$hole out bid me with 1 min left [img]graemlins/twak.gif[/img] . I hate that. That really pisses me off. It went for $255.00.
