You never have to replace your LSD unless your transmission is constantly running at high temps or you have some freak accident. But bad fluid is the leading cause of trans problems. High trans temps cause your fluid life to decrease which in turn lessens its capicity to lubricate, seal, cool, and clean. So if the fluid is bad depending on how fierce you drive the life expentancy can be cut in half if not more. its supposed to last 100,000 miles and you have a pretty new car (2001 camaro) I dont see how your LSD could have gone bad so soon.
Why do you think you cant do doughnuts properly? What is actually happening when you try? 2000 Black Firebird Y87
K&N filter, Whisper Cold Air Intake, Cutout Exhaust;
3.42 Gears, LSD;
160* Powerstat, Removed Silencers, MAF screen removed;
Zex hyperformance Spark Plugs, MSD Superconductor Wires, Manual Fan
Switch
15.08@90.86 2.149 60ft

It happens WAY WAY too often.
Anyway, since I posted in this thread I guess I should offer my opinion on the initial post.
As far as I know the OEM Zexel-Torsen is supposed to last "the lifetime of the car." The Zexel-Torsen uses gears rather than clutches which is supposed to make it quite reliable.
When a LSD goes bad generally it just becomes just like an open-diffy so the car is still driveable. So if your LSD is bad (doubtful) it should act like an open-diffy.
Hopefully my info is accurate, that would be quite embarrassing to post what I did above and then present inaccurate info SLP CAI, K&N, Whisper Lid, 180* thermo, manual fan switch, 3.42 gears, Auburn Pro LSD, Wester\'s PCM Tuning, TSP Rumbler, High Flow Cat.
