and btw...any rwd car w/ the right suspension setup can be good for drifting. it's all technique.
i suppose if you have a nice setup..but my friend own a stock 93 MR2..and those thing are nice car to drift with...lightweight and all but it tends to oversteer, much better than our car when it comes to drifts...ive drift numorous times w/ this car but, theres to much oversteer with this car ....anyway to get back on topic. How long will the Stock LSD last? and how much will it cost to repair or replace

Excuse me for asking but what does High transmission temperature have to do with a Limited Slip Differential
Amen to that!
its stock..i got 2001 Firebird w/ the W68 package
....anyway to get back on topic. How long will the Stock LSD last? and how much will it cost to repair or replace
The stock LSD is a Torsen unit.
There is nothing to wear out!
ive drift numorous times w/ this car but, theres to much oversteer with this car
Drifting=Oversteer!
Oversteer is a condition where the rear of the car is "loose". When you go around a turn, the rear tires tend to slide out, and the car wants to spin out.
Understeer is a condition where the rear of the car is "tight". When you go around a turn, the front tires tend to slide, and the car wants to go straight.
Nuetral is a condition where when you go around a turn, the front and rear tires slide out together, and the car slides sideways.
I really doubt you've broken the torsen. I dont honestly know what would happen if you did break it, but I imagine there would be a helluva lot of noise, probably would not be driveable at all. More than likely driver error if you cant do a donut. First you say too much oversteer then you say you cant do a donut?? Kind of contradicting yourself.
And as was stated above, drifting is oversteer, you just need to know how to feather the gas in order to keep it under control and not spin and go into a donut.
I already answered your question above. Did you read all the posts? My earlier post:
As far as I know the OEM Zexel-Torsen is supposed to last "the lifetime of the car." The Zexel-Torsen uses gears rather than clutches which is supposed to make it quite reliable.
When a LSD goes bad generally it just becomes just like an open-diffy so the car is still driveable. So if your LSD is bad (doubtful) it should act like an open-diffy.

Maybe you mistyped or something but you said you had the W68 package. That doesn't mean it came with LSD. Y87 is the package with LSD. I don't know if you have that package or not, but figured I'd throw that out there.

Another example of people on this not knowing a damn thing as to what theyre talking about, but still giving advice.
This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever read.

i almost pucked when i read that first response...
guys isnt the differential in the front and the transmission between the rear tires
one burnout mark means the LSD is NOT...i repeat... is NOT working...
either that or you never had one to begin with.
please stop taking auto advice from that friend.

OKAY enough with all this nonsense, I doubt this guy has LSD to begin with. Look at your RPO codes on the door. If you see G80 and only leaving 1 tire mark then its broken. I would bet you do not see a G80 code and therefore need to buy one.
Go out and look at your car for this code, no more advice from friends until you know you even have one or not.
A) You're LSD is broken and is working as an open differential or:
B) You didn't have a LSD to begin with. One skid mark = open differential.
C) Don't do donuts, its BAD for your car!!! ;)

i guesse this means its broken :( any idea how to fix it or replace?....if i still have the original factory warranty will they cover it? if not how much will this cost me? i looked today and saw G80 on the door. i really hope warranty will cover this

With a G80 code you either have a Zexel Torsen or an Auburn LSD. If you have the Zexel it's broke and please tell me how you did it with a 6. If you have an Auburn, the clutches and cones are probably worn, so they need to be changed. You just have to take it in and let them look at it.

Honestly I dont think you know what the hell your talking about if you have a Torsen and you think you've broken it without doing a helluva launch on slicks at the track. And theres no noise or anything??
If you really did break it then I appologize, but I seriously doubt it.
