Don't use used gears, go and Buy your gears at West Coast Differentials, They only stock high quality ring & pinions. If you have the money buy a posi or even a Locker.255/50R16 Tires, Pioneer Deck, Pioneer 4 Way speakers, PPI Amps, JL subs, Spec Stage 3 Clutch, Optima Yellow Top

I disagree. Swapping in a new rear end is much more cost effective and easier. Novices cannot install gears themselves, but any person with any sort of mechanical knowledge can swap in a new rear end, just a whole bunch of nuts and bolts.
Now he is using used parts of unknown quality, I have replaced rearends and frontends in last couple of years, everytime I done that I've had to replace 1 or 2 parts that just added to the cost. He is better off paying someone to install the new gears and actually get a warranty on them. You never know how a rearend has been used or abused. I would pay the 500$ for the parts and the install, but thats me. 200$ for the gears, 80$ For the master install kit, and around 220$ for the install, no muss or fuss. It would cost more for the Posi, He may skip all of this and install a powertrax no-slip255/50R16 Tires, Pioneer Deck, Pioneer 4 Way speakers, PPI Amps, JL subs, Spec Stage 3 Clutch, Optima Yellow Top

You are absolutely right, it is a gamble to an extent. The only part I had to replace on my swap was the cover gasket, and so while I was at it I replaced the gear lube and added some limited-slip additive. It cost me 15 dollars extra. However, that isn't the point.
A solid inspection of the interior of the differential with a mirror and a flashlight can show you the quality of the internals. However, if buying from a seller that has to ship to you, that isn't an option.
I agree with you Razzer if he is going to try to ship the rearend (killer shipping anyway, which would kind of negate the entire price issue anyway) then he is taking a major gamble. If the rearend he wishes to swap is local, he can either inspect the internals himself or have someone a little more automotively inclined to do it for him.Tom<br />Too many mods for this sig.<br /><a href=\"http://www.l337server.com/Tom/cars.html\" target=\"_blank\">My car\'s site</a><br /><br /><a href=\"http://www.FullThrottleV6.com\" target=\"_blank\">www.FullThrottleV6.com</a>

Swapping an entire rear is MUCH easier than changing gears.
Just make sure you've got a good one, with a warranty. Even if it's bad, and you have to do it again, it's still easier than setting up gears.
My local yard drains and inspects every unit before sale, and warrantys for 90 days.2002 CAMARO \"RS\"<br /> 3800/M5/Y87
