I have read other posts and have decided to go with either the center force d/f or the spec stage 2.
Under normal driving conditions (not racing very much) and with a slightly modded car (cai,cat back,headers) how long will each of these cluthes last?
And how long is the stock clutch and tranny supposed to last, under normal driving conditions?
There is a WHOLE LOT of different opinions on "normal driving conditions". Some people always keep their foot on the clutch pedal (or most of the time) allowing a stock clutch to wear down much too soon. I am not hard on my clutch, but every once in awhile I nail it. My stock clutch has been in my car since 1996 with well over 80k, and still grabs like new. I have a centerforce that is awaiting installation, but I refuse to tear everything down until the stock clutch burns out.
It all depends on what you want to spend for a clutch. Alot of members here will recommend SPEC for everyday driving and occasional racing. I found a good deal on a centerforce clutch kit, so that's what I bought.
If you daily drive it or race it occasionally, get the CF Dual Friction, if you have any power adder or race it all the time, get the spec stage 3 or higher.
I am running a slightly modified CF Dual Friction, with the cam and 100 shot, trapping 104 with no problems, and it drives on the street just about like stock.
If you are mainly worried about longevity, I would be willing to bet, the unmodified CF Dual Friction would last just about as long as stock, maybe longer.
