well i just fixed my misfire. and now when i'm at WOT i noticed that when it shifts from first to second that its stuck at the redline for like a have second. it feels like it wants to shift, but it takes a tad longer to shift. also at 50 when i floor it the rpms jump to like 5500 then it drops into gear and the rpms are at like 4500.. i know that i have a bad tranny mount ( center counsoul rattles). could that be the reason or is my tranny slipping... also when i'm crusing at 40-50 my rpms fluctuate about 200 rpms up and down. sometimes just a slight fluctuation.... any ideas guys what it could be... i've got 130,000 miles on my A4 firebird (1999). never changed the trans fluid. still has a reddish color to it.... ive heard that its bad to change it if your car has that many miles on it. so i'm kinda stumped...

Sounds like your verter...I don't know who told you not to change your tranny fluid after that many miles but it should be changed about every 30K...your lucky your tranny has lasted this long.

how do i check my trans fluid.... when the car is off after driving it for a while or when the car is idiling. i've noticed when i changed my wires that there was some trans fluid on the trans pan bolts.... so i might be low on fluid. when i drive it for like 15 minutes and just the car off and check the fluid its right on the hot, but when i check it when the car is running nothing really shows on the dipstick..... so how do i know if im' low on fluid

I'm not saying your low....I'm saying it needs to be changed...probably a complete flush...but you would have to take it to a shop to get that done. The filter could also be bad because those are supposed to be changed at the same 30-40K mile mark.
