Go ahead and move this to Drivetrain if you feel its inappropriate here.
I was wondering waht is involved in the swap? I might be getting a donor car with an auto, I thought maybe I might convert to auto. I would have the CPU, crossmember, bell hosuding and everything. Would I need anything else? We are both 94s.
just switch trannies, PCM and wiring harness, install the auto shifter, done.Leave teh clutch pedal there if u so desire or switch taht out as well. Thats all tehre is to it.
I think I hold off on that transmission thing oyu should me don't really feel like forking over $800+. Only reason I am considering it is I might be getting a whole donor car for free, and my transmission is its way out again, maybe just swap it to auto since I have everything I need, and it will theoretically actually raise the value of my car. DId a blue book value of my car raises its value $400 for having a auto in it and another $200 for having a functional 2nd gear along with tht tranny. So $600 boost in resale, and I might have all the parts anyways.

Thats cool just thought since it involved PCM and harness swaps.

I can't directly answer your question but that device I pointed out to you would not only give you an accurate speed readout with a gear change but you can also program your shift points, firmness, etc.. ;)

and for $800 I might get my t5 fixed by someone, thus negating the reason why I am going to auto(I have a messed up t5, and a free donor 3.4L with auto, pcm, everything, hence free swap)

thanks!

Don't worry someone snagged the car before me, not gonna happen without free parts. And i think someone helped figure what is wrong with my tranny, may just be the shifter or the linkage.
Good news on sorting out your 5-sp! But if you do end up wanting to swap, I'd trade the automatic setup for a 5-sp setup, so it's still free.... And I don't even need the electronics or pedals, just trans/bellhousing/flywheel.
