Installing a shifter?

I ahve some problems with 2nd gear, feels like it jsut doesn't go in, unless I slam the hell out of it. Another person in a t5 agrees somewhat that the synchros feel fine jsut feels like the shifter doesn't make it to the gate.

I figured I have broken plenty of things related to the drivetrain, why not mess up the shifter?

I am not to knowledgable about the tranny, or shifter. I know there are adjuster things in it, I am just looking for a webpage that will give me some info on how to install and adjust a shifter.

I installed my hurst billet plus during my lunch break the day it came in.. it's not that tough.. :D

took me about 30 minutes and I am by no means a mechanical genius.. :D

I gotta say though if your not going into second like you should but every other gear is fine you more than likey have a synchro problem.. now if you recently installed say a 1LE or poly tranny mount there is the possibility that the shifter is just hitting the console but that would be obvious.

I have a 1LE, but its been if for a long time...

I remvoed the entire plastic piece around the shifter, and it doesn't hit it.

think ti might be hitting somethign else?

Usually when a synchro goes bad, it gives you a bang and throws you out of the gear, this jsut feels like it will not go in, go all the way. But if I hit it hard, any time, even at a stop, ro driving, it goes in then I can let the clutch out and go, no problems doesn't throw me out or anything.

Think I shoudl make a brakcet ot rasie the mount up? About how much? 1 in.?
