• rear end slipping

Hello, I have a 1995 Pontiac Firebird and one that came factory with the 3.8. I read that my car has an open diff. Is that why only one wheel spins, even if both are on ice, only one will spin. This sucks and i wonder if there is a quick fix or rear end swap that will bolt right up.

    Thanks!!!
My car looks great and runs good.
Please Look at my car, it may be one of a kind!!! Let me know if you like it...
Hard to find 1995 Firebird with 3.8
http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/view_page.pl?page_id=429908

yes, with an open rear, only one wheel spins as the other tries to get traction.
Any f-body posi rear from 93-97 will fit your car. You can get a rear from 98 and up, but you'll have to order any replacement parts for it accordingly (brakes, rotors, calipers, etc.)
93-97 rearend parts are not compatible with 98+ parts.

FWIW, even the LSD that comes in the V8s will act as an open diff on ice.

Yeah but the trick is to apply light brake pressure, then the act as an open problem of a torsen goes out the window
