  • transmission downshift ?

    Hey all,
I have been wondering if this is normal transmission operation or if thier is something else going in here.
My tranny doesnt seem to be downshifting(auto)when it should, I have to give it like 3/4 throttle before it'll drop down and take off but by that time I really dont need the speed. If I dont get on it itll just sit their and slug alone, kind of like when your driving a stick and your in third gear but should be in second and it just kind of lags until you get up to speed? Any thoughts.
    Thanks Shane

I'm beginning to think that the auto trannies have an equivalent to the Skip Shift on the 6-speeds. When it's in certain speed/rpm ranges, it won't down or upshift. It's because of the smog and/or economy BS.

First, make sure the TV cable is adjusted correctly, (tight at WOT). If it is then there are a couple of other things that can be done.

There is no TV cable on a 2000, so you don't have to worry about that.

I think everything is fine. If you want to go fast, put the pedal to the medal, it will downshift then.
