  • Help w/ Hurst insatll!

Ok I have my center console off and im looking at the rubber boot that is wrapped around the original stick. Ive takin the three small screwws out that hold the boot in place. Now here is the problem the boot wont budge. Is there some glue under it or something? How do I get it off? Thanx

4 nuts holdin that boot on.

4 bolts holding the shifter on.

Don't forget to make an RTV seal between the new shifter and the trans, and please by all means follow the RTV directions (let it dry, go eat lunch or something, dont do it wet).

    you're almost done.

Yes, there is some glue that holds the stock boot to the transmission plate. On my car, there were seven 7mm screws holding this boot to the trans. plate. After I had those out, the boot didn't move. You can get the boot off by using a flat head screwdriver. There shouldn't be too much glue holding the boot the the plate. Hope this helps. I just did mine last night :D I think you'll really love it. I know I do. I got the short stick to go with it and it is sick.

Oh, and by the way, be sure to use the bolts that came with the shifter (the one's that hold the shifter to the trans. plate. I accidently forgot I had them and re-used my factory bolts.

Not sure if you've read that, but it has step by step instructions.

I had to get a screw driver to pry it off. Just keep prying and it should come loose.
