My tranny was going bad so I bought one from a junked '96 v6 camaro and rebuilt it. I put it into my car yesterday, and it will only start in second gear. I am also getting code P0756 "Shift Solenoid 2 Performance Or Stuck Off". The car runs and shifts, except that it will not go down into 1st gear no matter what. I have three theories:
1. The junked tranmission that I bought doesn't have SGS on it, and the computer is getting confused. I don't know if this could happen or not. Did all the transmissions in '96 have SGS?
2. I installed the forward sprag assembly backwards. I spent a lot of time trying to make sure I put it in correctly, but according to this
post, it might be because I put it in there backwards. (I really hope it is not this one)
3. The soleniod, or the wiring harness is bad, just like the error code says.
This whole project has been a pain, and a sink hole of money. I finally got the thing in there, and now it doesn't work. Depressing. Has anyone had experience with this problem? How was it fixed?
