I can buy a cheap *** L98 from an 89TA and I wanna know if my tranny will bolt up!

Hmmm, I believe it will. If you can use a driveshaft from 82-02, then the transmissions must be the same length. The only problem will be the bolt pattern, but I don't see why they wouldn't be compatible...
I have replaced numerous clutches from 82 and up to present, but I never thought of putting the trans's side to side to compare.
Let me do some reading, and I'll post here again of what I found.

Oh well, I guess this answers my remarks http://www.camarov6.com/cgi-bin/ulti...&f=27&t=001048
I guess the bolt pattern is different after all.

I am 99% sure you can do it just need to change the bellhousing, but personally I think its a horrible idea. Ever notice a t5 never came with a 350 EVER, standard. Thas because it woudl chew the T5 up and spit it out. I think a T5 woudl hold up better with an lt1 then a L98.

I woudl do a T56 swap if oyu got the funds, just see if the master cylinders are the same, and I know ther eare kits to get a t56 to hook up to a L98.
