replace pinion shaft when do lsd?

i read an install guide for replacing the open differential with a lsd. at the end of the install he emphasized that you put the NEW pinion shaft in instead of the old one. does a new pinion shaft come with the differential (specifically the slp take off)? or do you have to buy on from a dealer? if you do, does any one know the part number? this is going to be my next project and i would like to get started as soon as possible. any suggestions, etc that you have are appreciated.

pinion shaft = part of the ring and pinion gearset

Are you sure he doesnt mean pinion seal?

Pinion Shaft comes with the differential. In the open diffy it's a round shaft, but on the LSD it's the big block. There's no way you could use the old one, they are completely different.

I'm guessing you're using http://www.fastblackcar.com/camaro/lsd.htm as the install guide, as I can see where it talks about it. Not sure why he stressed NEW, since you can't use the old one anyways.

yeah, i was using www.fastblack.com./.... as my info. so the new pinion shaft comes with the differential from slp, right? and dominic, what is pinion seal? thanks for the help.
