  • Lockers?

I understand that most of you guys have chosen to go with clutch type posi-traction units. I was currious however if anybody here had decided on a locking type of differential. I just installed one on mine about 1000 miles ago and was wanting to get some opinions from others if there are any.

Actually, many (most?) of us have Torsens which use worm gears instead of clutches. My opinion of lockers is that the on/off action is harsh and so they're not good for handling, certainly not as good as a Torsen, which is _really_ smooth. Mostly lockers are used by offroad guys (low traction dirt masks the problem) or racers when they are the only thing allowed by the rules.

surprisingly enough, the powertrax unit made alot of noise for the first 500 miles or so but is not almost completly silent. The only time I hear it is during very slow sharp turns. It did however create alot of wheel hop issues since the rear is nearly a solid axle when its locked in.
