I have a question, If I swap to 3.73 from my 3.23's (m5 transmission) then I won't be able to go over 100 or what?..

Correct (approximately)...Your speedo will always read high then you are really going, and will limit your supposed speed to 118....when it reads 118, you will actually be going about 100mph. Hypertech corrects it nicely, plus offers some tuning options...it'll not only correct your speedo, but also raise your speed and rev limiters. Several other brands have corrections for this.

I thouhgt there was only a 10% difference between the 3.23 gears and 3.73's on the speedo. That should actually bring your top speed to 106mph without reprogramming. Plenty fast for a drag race.

I know this ? was about 3.73 gears, but I was wondering if 3.42 gears do the same in top end?

          3.73/3.23=15.5% so about 100mph when at 118mph.

until corrected. Your actual limit with 3.73 gears is somewhere past 150 MPH+, you won't be able to pull that much, but 130-140 is possible.

3.42's will do the same thing at a 7.5% ratio - that is until corrected. Get it fixed and your back to 118, or get the govenor lifted, and shoot for 130+. Make sure you have the tires for it first.

I wouldn't assume you have 3.23's. I did, and then found out I had a GU4 code axle. Double check yer RPO's. You might be going 3.08 to 3.73.

If you are really concerned about the speed limiter, and you dont have the money to buy the recalibrator, just disconnect the VSS wire from the tranny (takes like 30 seconds) and run without a speedometer at the track or whatever
