• 3.73 install done!

Finally done... only took, what? 5 days???

Probabaly only 8-10 hours of actual work (not bad for working all by my lonesome, huh?), the rest looking/waiting for parts and tools. Put almost 60 miles on them tonight. I feel like I left it in "3" on the highway! Some whine, not as much as I expected. Not much more than the stock gears whined. I imagine it will quiet down a bit after they get cut in well. Only ran it hard once, right before I got home. Definately registers high on the butt-dyno. My one "pass" from a stop consisted of alot of tirespin so I didn't really got thrown back too much, but can't wait to try it on the drags-n-skinnies.

Anyways, I took some pics while I was working. Got a nice greasy digital camera now.

If you can have it installed for around $150-200 then have it done. I spent over $130 on tools to do this, and one of those tools I had to kind of make. Had I bought the proper tool I would have spent near $180 or more.

Did you mic the gears when installing?

You know, put the big ol' studio condensor microphone by the gears ... sing your favorite Wayne Newton ballad ... helps slosh the oil around and take the iron through a hysterisis loop ...

use a micrometer - mic, or other wise proper tool to measure the gear lash when you installed the gears.

if you didn't, don't expect them to last long.

I thought it was only strength vs. noise, I didn't know it was about long-lasting.

Yes, I used a dial indicator with a magnetic base stand to measure backlash. A perfect .008"
