I have noticed a bad rattling sound, or more of a clinking sound when I go over a bumpy road coming from around the transmission area, I have raised the car up and got under it and looked but cannot find what the sound is coming from. The shifter is not moving any more than normal so I dont think that anythings broken, when I bought the car I had to replace a transmission bracket. The sound seems to be coming from the transmission area and is really loud, and usually just over bumps. It just started one day out of nowhere. Does anyone know how to fix this or what could be causing it? Or has anyone had the same problem? The car is a 97, V6, 5spd camaro with only a few modifications done but nothing to do with transmission or drivetrain.

I will check both of those things tomorrow when I get under the car. I made a mistake though it wasnt a bracket that got replaced it was the transmission mount, and it was really obvious that it was broken because the shifter bounced up and down about 5 inches, it doesnt do that now so I dont think that it could be the mount again.

you might have a loose nut or bolt that is making the rattling sound, thats what happened to mine, i tightened it up and it never made the sound again. check it out.#1:1999 pewter metallic y87 rs A4 camaro.check out the pics on the link below
#2:Bright red 1979 Pontiac Trans Am. Dont remove your tunnle brace it adds a little strength to the car and helps keep the shape of the tunnle. I had to modify mine because my exhaust was rubbing on it making a loud *** rattle.2001 Arctic White Firebird With Black Drop Top

3:42 Gears
Zexel LSD
BMR upper A-Arms
Trans Am exhaust with 3\" I-pipe and cutout
Modified intake
Mecham Hood
Trans Go shift kit
Making rear control arms and panhard

I suggest modifying it rather than completely removing it. First remove the 4 bolts holding it on and take it off. Next turn the car on and drive around the block if the noise is gone then it is the problem. now take a look at the brace and grind down where it is shiny (wherever its rubbing it will be shiney). Put it back on the car and try it out, if it still vibrates repeat till it doesnt rattle anymore. Once the rattle is gone take it off one last time and repaint it with high temp paint to prevent rust then put it back on and call it a day.2001 Arctic White Firebird With Black Drop Top

3:42 Gears
Zexel LSD
BMR upper A-Arms
Trans Am exhaust with 3\" I-pipe and cutout
Modified intake
Mecham Hood
Trans Go shift kit
Making rear control arms and panhard

The factory one works just fine for the stresses put upon it but the aftermarket ones that rk and bmr sell allow for a lot more room. However i have i vert and can not use said aftermarket part (once again the vert gets owned on chasi mods).2001 Arctic White Firebird With Black Drop Top

3:42 Gears
Zexel LSD
BMR upper A-Arms
Trans Am exhaust with 3\" I-pipe and cutout
Modified intake
Mecham Hood
Trans Go shift kit
Making rear control arms and panhard
