  • Do I need this for 4.10 gears?

I'm switching to 4.10 gears from 3.03. I have searched this forum up and down and have decided on purchasing this.

    Gears
    LSD

    Deluxe Install Kit

Few questions, how are these gears? Now, I was fishing around the internet and read that you SHOULD buy this if your switching to 4.10 gears.

    ????

Do I need this if I am going to 4.10 gears from 3.03? I don't think I can afford it because this is already costing me $900 bucks!

    Thanks!

Oh yeah, will all this work nicely with my 4L60E tranny?

you have to have an SLP paddle kit for 4.10s OR
grin down your thrust block with a bench grinder like I did.
I advise you to get the paddle kit
2k2 camaro, K&N, SLP whisper lid, Konis, AEM, HP Tuners, Angel eyes/Halos, CF SS ram air hood, 4.10s, Zexel Torsen, UMI SFCs, CrossFire, BFGs, Gatorback, Catco, Flows, and TLC! DONT feed the Trolls!

You don't need the paddle kit with that Auburn LSD you linked to. You only need the paddle kit with the Zexel Torsen units.

Unless you're running FI or plan to, you could save some money by getting an OEM style limited-slip rather than a pro or performance series. You should be able to get a slightly used standard V8 posi for $100 or so.

If you're taking it to a shop to have the gears installed, find out from them if they have parts on hand. No sense buying a complete install kit if you can get only what pieces you need from them at cost.

Yeah I agree, I think you only need the paddle kit for the Zexel Torsen.

Are you saying FI "turbo cars" dont need as strong of a diff as a N/A Car of same power?
and if so can i run turboed 13.5 of a Z-28 take off?

If you're running a 13.5 you're not making any more power than a stock or mildly-modded V8, so you don't need a high-end differential yet.
