  • 3.4 and 3.8 flywheel compatibility

Hi, I am trying to get a 3.8L engine to bolt up to a Toyota transmission in my truck, and need to come up with another .5" to make it work.

Rather than building a custom flywheel, my friend suggested I try a 3.4 flywheel as they are .5" thicker than the 3.1" 3.8 flywheel.

I understand I would have to use a different pressure plate and redrill the bolt holes as the 3.4 crank is 6-hole and the 3.8 is 8-hole.

What I would like to know is if anyone has the diamter of a 3.4 flywheel, number of teeth, and diamter of the center hole. I have heard both motors share the same size center hole and my swap could be accomplished by just redrilling the flywheel and swicthing to the 3.4 pressure plate.

Let me know if anyone cna shed any light on this.

    Thanks
    chris

Not sure if you figured out your problem but if it has to do with a clutch pedal travel being to short you should be able to get a longer throwout bearing to compensate instead of all the other work of a custom flywheel.
