I'm thinking about getting 3.42s in my 3.4 also, but I was wondering if they hurt topend like the 3.73s and 4.10s?

Is there anyway to really screw up your car if you add in 3.42s?

Well with 220hp you should be flying!!!

Haha j/k, anyways 3.42's will be nice but they will not help your top end. You'll need better flowing heads and a better cam for that. I'd say for a stock heads/cam 3.4L, 3.42's are the perfect gear.

yeah, lower gears help out a lot w/off the line acceleration, but fudge up your top speed/rpm ratio. p.s. if you had a 3rd gen V6 car, you'd already have them 3.42s ;)

You can screw your car if you install them wrong...personally i dont think there is much improvement from original 3.23's if you go 3.42's. I dont think its worth the money for that small of jump. Just my 2 cents.

i got 3.73's in my car....things a beast . I ran a 15.8 @85.XX with them, a cold air, underdrive pullies, and a flowmaster muffler. And my top end seems great, just egt them and deal with whatever small topend loss you get later on.

ok, I think I will go with the 3.42s,lsd, and some new tires to catch some traction. Now if only I could find what I wanted for a reasonable price...
