gear and pinion spacer question?

i have a 98 with 3.08's in it. 10 bolt series 2 carrier. I wanna change my gears and i was leaning towards 3.42's. Where can i find the pinion gear spacer to make the change possible? and whats better for 1/4 overall...3.42's or 3.73's??

You can go with 4.10 or up to even 4.56 depending on tire size you use. The goal is to be in your maximum power range in your 1:1 gear at the line, so the lower the gear the better.

I'd switch to a 3-series carrier since your 2-series is open, and 3-series low gears are easier to come by than 2-series low gears.

how hard is it to do a self install with 4.10 gears and going from a 2 series to a 3 series?

too hard for most. Gears are not something to mess around with take it somewhere and have them install it. Its one of those things like major automatic transmission repair, its best left to the pros.
