  • open diff goin bad?

i got the bird back in summer of 04, had crappy 215-60 uniroyal tiger paw tires, i switched out the tires spring 05 for 245-50 bf goodrich gforces. when i did that, thats when it seemed my differential started acting up. only thing i can think of is its puttin more strain on it. i used to be able to chirp the tires really good goin into 2nd, but after time it seemed like it was losing its catchy feel. i went out today and tried to launch the car, anything over 2k and ill spin tires, so i launched it from just about 1,500 rpm and i got a nasty hop from the back tires. acted like it didnt want to catch. i know the open differential is weak, but i think its obviously crapping out now. any other things that could cause this? i heard of changin out the LCAs, but i never had this problem before when i would launch it from about 2k rpm for a couple months after i got the new tires. i dont think its the clutch, the clutch feels really solid. any suggestions? A posi is a purchase in the near future anyhow.

the wider tires will grip much much better than say stock tires. I could spin my open 235/55r16 but I have trouble spinning my new 255/50r16, I believe that the 3.08's and open diff are the reason for this and that more engine torque is needed to breakem loose. Its normal.
