• PLEASE READ VERY IMPORTANT (TO ME)

I just finished replacing my transmission mount (it ripped apart) and the transmission shifts fine now (no more lound bang/shutter) however when I go fast (90+MPH) or if I hit bumps and stuff on the road I can feel something really lose/shaking/rattling underneath the car through the shifter. It seems like it might be towards the back of the car but I'm really not sure. What did I break/damage while I was driving around with a busted tranny mount?

PLEASE HELP THIS IS IMPORTANT...I EVEN TOOK IT TO THE TRACK LAST NIGHT LIKE THIS...STUPID ME

Well, how did you replace it?
Are the bolts tight?
Did you accidentally bend the exhaust?
Hit the cat heat shield?
I'm trying to guess at any possibilities

Now, I'm no expert. But i know several people who have put aftermarkert tranny mounts on their cars and notice a significant amount of shaking after the fact. I'm not sure just how terrible yours is, but they always said they got used to it. If this is insanly loud or really obnoxious then you might wanna crawl back under there and crank down on the bolts with a impact wrench. If it's just mildly irritating then I wouldn't worry about it. That just seems to be what these aftermarket tranny mounts do. ::shrugs:: Hope that helps.

bolts are VERY TIGHT. I didn't go with an aftermarket tranny mount. They didn't have the V6 tranny mount but they had the 95 LT1's tranny mount so I purchased that one. It all bolted up fine yet there is considerable shaking, rattling towards the rear of the vehicle.

Umm ... tranny mounts are all the same, minus a little bolt-hole widening. But, hell, why didn't you go with a 1LE or poly? That would've explained the rattling / shimmy ... best case scenario you've forgotten what it's like to drive with a stiff tranny mount. Worst case scenario something's out of alignment.

am I damaging anything? And why didn't I get something better..let's see I'm at college and I travel a lot with my car so I needed a "quick-fix" and this is what I did.

My primary concern is whether it's damaging or not (the rattling/vibration) to the car's drivetrain.

Side note: It's getting louder... :( so I'm concerned

I noticed the other day (looking at what needed to be done to remove the tranny) that the cat has a bracket that mounts to the tailshaft of the tranny, and that thing makes some noise. Check that, maybe with the new bushing in the tranny mount, that bracket moves around more.
