  • 4 cylinder T5 vs 6 cylinder T5?

I have a 95 3.4 with an auto tranny that I would like to swap to a T5 from a 91 S10 4 cylinder. (The motor and tranny is in a custom kit car - not in a Camaro - so fit is not an issue) Is ther a difference between the T5 from the s10 and the v6 trannys? I have researched the Tremec website and it seems the biggest difference is the gear ratios. Does anyone know any other differences?

    Thank you

is the bell housing the same? if its not can the bell housing be changed? if I were to hazard a guess, cause I'm not sure, I would say no on both counts, so I doubt it would fit your application.

The tranny does bolt up to the 3.4. I just did that last weekend to begin fabricating motor and tranny mounts. I just got an s10 2.8 flywheel. I believe I will end up using the 4 clyinder clutch and pressure plate. The tranny now does not have the nose shaft bearing. I will need to play around with it to see if I need the 4 or v6 bearing to match up with the crank. Does anyone know if the pilot bearing is pressed on to the tranny nose or is it in the crank?

My main concern if how tough the tranny from a 4 cylinder is compaired to a 6. I cannot find any differences except gear ratios.

As far as the starter goes, it seems the 3.4 starter will work if shimmed.

I just got the 2.8 flywheel and it bolts right up to the 3.4. The pressure plate and clutch seem to work properly as well.

I still need the pilot bearing and to resolve wether or not the computer needs to be reprogramed. The GM dealership doesn't know if the 3.4 computer will need to be reprogramed to recognize it is a manual behind it instead of the auto it left the factory with.

Any help with that area would be welcome.
        Thanks
