The trans would prolly be the same, but I'm not sure if the 4.3L uses the same bellhousing pattern.

if its 4wd, I know tranny is to diferent
the 2wd drive may work, 2.2 has the same bell housing.
as said before if both trannys are the removable bellhousing kind you could use a 4.3 tranny with the 3.8 bellhouse
