  • What differential?

Okay I want to replace either my whole rear axle or just the differential and do the brake conversion obviously. I want to set it up for autocross style racing, even if it never gets raced. I have a A4 with 3.23's obviously I planned on going to 3.42s.

I looked at different diffs and I like the eaton posi the most personally.

What would work best for autocross type racing? Is 3.42s enough or should I really go to 3.73s reason I figured on 3.42s is it keeps my rpm around 70-75mph a little lower for gas millage because for now it is a daily driver.

If you do a search, I've talked about gears for autocross before..

As far a diff, any LSD will be an improvement over stock. Make sure that if you buy a clutch type it has good life on it, you won't have to worry about wear on a torsen type.

If your autocrossing in my opinion put the best gear you are willing to live with especially running a v6. Its not as bad in a 3.4L as it is in a 3.8L but lack of low end power can suck.

as for diff, I prefer auburn over a zexel torsion hands down but it is a clutch type and is possible to be worn. While a zexel will not wear.

No clues about eaton, too much money.

Well I know the fastest way to burn the clutch packs in the diffs is to like to spin up your tires, thank fully I always thought that was kinda lame to start with, unless you are heating them up for a drag of course, but not my case. Hm I'll take a look at these and see what I'm lookin at.

Ya Eaton is a few bucks, friend of mine recomended it, he replaced his old rear end in his '84 firebird/camaro convertible lol. When his old one was shot, I guess he liked it but it is like $600 I think.
