  • i think my LSD is going

lately i have been hearing a clunking sound coming from my rearend. i can't pinpoint where it is coming from, but i'm thinking it's either my driveshaft(1le) or my lsd. when i'm in first and driving very slow(5mph) it makes the clunknig noise. it's doesn't do it all the time. i had the car up on the lift today and saw gear oil dripping ffrom the housing. it was a very very small amount. could the fluid level be low... need advice

Check your u joint on the driveshaft, Check fluid in housing, Change the gasket and see if it still leaks

Minimum change the fluid and lsd additive.
        Then go from there

You should expect a very small amount of leakage from the differential housing. Check the fluid and go ahead and change it if necessary (every 30000 miles or 24 months). If you have a Zexel Torsen diff, then you don't need limitted slip additive (although if it helps for peace of mind, it doesn't hurt).
