  • pop when i switch gears

hey guys, ok here is the thing. when i shift gears i push in the cluch and then shift and when i shift there is the pop. what the heck is that. i has to do something with the gears i'm sure. and remember that i did a gear swap about a week and a half ago. and this started to happen friday.

is the pop when you shift or when you let the clutch out?

i know on mine when i go from gear to gear is a slight pop feeling going into the gear but you cant really hear it.

judging by your posts ive seen it seems like you drive hard. do you ever WOT shift on the bottle? the m5's arent exactly the strongest tranny's.

when you say you swapped gears i am assuming you mean rear gears, correct?

if the pop is when you shift and the clutch is still all the way in it shouldnt have anything to do with the rear gears.

also can you hear or feel any grinding?

Is it coming from the tranny or the rear end?? If it is the rear then your pinion nut might be getting loose..

thats what i was thinking at first but she said when she shifts not when she lets the clutchout. so if it is when the clutch is in then it must be in the tranny.

Change your tranny fluid.. See if it still does it after.. I use a quart of lucas in mine and it really helps the tranny last longer.. You see how much tq I put through mine..

Put the car up in the air... On the passenger side of the tranny there are 2 plugs.. The top one is to fill and the bottom one is to drain.. You fill it up untill the fluid comes out of the top hole or its full when you stick your finger into the fill hole and you can touch fluid..

Or you can take off your shifter and fill it up there..
