would like to hear from those that have aftermarkter clutches for the m5....I only know of the centerforce dual friction and the spec (not sure what they mean by the different stages?) I am looking for one for street performance and maybe 3-4 trips to the track every summer. what are the opinions on the aftermarket clutches? thanks

I have the SPEC stage 2 clutch and I LOVE it. The thing is tough. I wanted to get the Stage 3 but then I came across a deal I couldn't pass up on the Stage 2. Here's how all the different stages work:

Stage 1: organic disc, 275rwhp capacity
Stage 2: segmented kevlar disc, 325rwhp capacity
Stage 3: 3-piece carbon/metalic disc, not sure of capacity here
Stage 4: rigid metalic disc, not sure of capacity

Stage 4 is not recommended for street use. I think you also have the option for a ceramic disc for stage 3 and 4.

RAM Clutches sells the Powergrip HD clutch set for about $240 for the disc, pressure plate and bearing. This set has a solid hub disc (no springs to break). This particular clutch will produce some minor "chatter" if the engagement isn't smooth but it's worth it for a clutch that ensures that you'll get more horsepower to the rear wheels.

i put 8000 miles on a centerforce and then the friction material ripped off of the disc....so im back to a stock clutch, and its grabbing harder than the cf
