ok I'll share my experience since I just had it broken/repaired a few weeks ago.

Under normal driving conditions (e.g. accelerations where you do not exceed 3,000RPMs and you are on a relatively smooth/even surface), everything will seem fine.

When/if you hit bumps you'll feel a vibration/rattle underneath the car and usually through the shifter.

Under WOT, the 1-2 shift will be NASTY. It will shift right, but you'll hear/feel a hard pow, similar to a bowling ball hitting the bottom of your car.

A transmission mount is basically a piece of rubber with a screw on top of it. It connects one end to the bottom of the car and the other to the transmission. During hard shifting (WOT), the force produced will try and "lift" the transmission up. The transmission mount will hold it in place. When it's broken (e.g. rubber ripped off), the transmission will freely move around. At WOT, it will most likely hit the bottom of your car (that nice big pow you'll hear/feel).

TO fix it, just go to Autozone and buy a transmission mount (rubber) or go aftermarket (poly-urethane) and install it yourself. It will cost around $25 for the part.

      I got a 1LE for $32 shipped form www.gmpartsdirect.com

No vibrations like reported form poly ones, but tons better then stock.

What he said is true, also I have heard to go under the car, and move the tranny with a pry bar.

On a 5-speed for those who do a search on this the shifter will flop up and down a few inches when you punch the gas.

Best thing is buy a 1Le or poly one and install it, you can see if tis broken alot easier when you have it off the car, I didn't know mine was broken I just thought the rubber was old on it, and replaced it with a 1LE.

Sweet, I will have to check it out. I think that i will go with the 1le one. I am going to have my transgo shift kit and vette servo in here purdy soon, so i might just have them put that on while there doing it all.

        thanks for all the info

Better than stock because it doesn't move around as much?? If so, doesn't this moving around thing serve a purpose?? Like to dampen something?? So, if you put something like a 1LE mount, aren't you kinda forcing it not to move?? Kind of like the exhaust system and how its suppose to move a bit...

Your tranny doesn't need to move. The rubber mount doesn't even so much let it move. It's only rubber to make your driving experience more pleasurable by dampening the vibration. The poly is more of a secure mount but the vibration is rough.

When the transmission moves it's wasted power. There is power going to move the transmission instead of going to moving your wheels.
