last week my friend took in his z28 because we would hear this bump coming from the back and the mechanic said it was his diffirential. So, he got it fixed and now there is another strange noise coming from the rear wheels. Its' hard to exlain...it sounds just like when you have a bad motor mount and you can hear it the most when he is in reverse. It sounds like it is coming form the back but i could be wrong. Kinda like a crunching sound. Anyone have any idea what this could be?

Im still pretty new to the car stuff but my GUESS could be that possibly the mechanic forgot to put back in oil in the gears. If he was working on the differential then he drained it. Sounds like his gears are grinding. My only other solution could be the gears are improperly aligned.2000 3800 II V6 Firebird<br />various small mods, bigger stuff later.
