if you can do the programing and arent concerned with gas milage then i'd get 4:10s.... just remember that your car will not shift at the right points if you dont program for the gear change.. also i'd get intake and a catback as supporting mods if you dont already have them..

i would go with 3.42s or 3.73s personally..only because you are also doing autocross..4.10s are a lot more tourqy..to get you from a low to high speed faster..but not stay there like autocross will demand of you..with 4.10s at high speeds for autocross your engine will be up there in the high rpms all the time..not good for the engine and tranny..if it was only for drag id say go with the 4.10s..they are good for the 1/4 mile because...its only a 1/4 mile..JMO

if it's not your daily driver then i would say 3.73 but if it is you daily driver also then go with the 3.42.

i have 3.73 in my daily driver and its not that bad...like 2,300 going down the highway and i knocked a S**t load of time of my 1/4...still tops out at like 130..the lower your gear though the less your top end speed, assuming that with a high gear your car is makign enough power to pull it thourgh the rpm band

If you don't do LOTS of highway driving, then definetly go with 4.10's. The increased acceleration will make big improvements in both drag and autocross.

                Heres my philosophy:

Almost all city, I would go with 4.10. They will probably increase your milage.

                City/Slow Highway(55-65), I would use 3.73.

                Fast highway(75-80), I would use 3.42.

I have 3.73 and drive 70-80 for about 50 miles a day. I think its to much when driving that fast. Im probably going to drop to 3.42 eventually, but thats also because it will help spool my turbo better.

4.10s will probably be better for dragging, autocross im not sure. I would think they would be better for that to since they keep you higher in the rpms.

I did the 3.73 in my 3.4 A4. I didn't really notice the mileage drop, but acceleration is awsome. Also Fastchip will reprogram your pcm. It will give you another 15hp and 20ft/lbs, no top speed limiter, cooling fans kick in earlier, and fix the shift points and speedo.

Gears, you take em to the pro's. They have to be set perfectly otherwise you'll prematurely kill your gears.

i have 3.73s and it's not so fun on the highway but i wish i had a 4.10. i got a 3.8 too though. it's worth drivin a lil slow cuz i only hit the highway to go to the track.
